In the 1970s, Bonnie Cashin had a single favorite accessory: her signature head-wrap.
It was her constant “finishing signature”—worn in her private life, chosen for major public appearances (including accepting her 1972 Coty American Fashion Critics’ Hall of Fame Award), integrated into her runway shows, and a key element in design sketches for all her manufacturers.
No one could buy one. Due to 1970s retail categorization and Cashin’s strict refusal to license ancillary lines, these head-wraps were promoted in her show notes to editors and buyers but never made available for retail sale.
From Cashin’s estate and personal design archive, a small, number of pristine, deadstock, museum-grade head-wraps in ivory knit, exactly 10 numbered pieces, are being released for purchase.
